Being a programmer in the games industry: how to arrive, survive and thrive

The hardest part of working in the games industry can be getting there in the first place; this talk gives some practical advice on how aspiring game programmers can best prepare for a job in the industry, and what to expect when they get there. 

 

About the speaker

Keith O'Conor is an Irish game developer who has been in the industry for over ten years, most recently at Ubisoft Montreal as a Technical Lead on some of the studio's biggest titles (Far Cry Primal, Far Cry 4, Watch Dogs). His specialties are 3D rendering, low-level engine architecture and optimization. Keith holds a PhD in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin.
