The winners of the 2019 US-Ireland Research Innovation Awards will be announced on May 17. A project led by Dr Anthony Ventresque, a Lero researcher at University College Dublin (UCD), using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to help improve the lives of millions of refugees, has been shortlisted for the prestigious awards.

The project is a collaboration between UCD and Microsoft, together with NGOs, NetHope and the Norwegian Refugee Council, and Lero, the Science Foundation Ireland backed Irish Software Research Centre.

Watch this video by American Chamber of Commerce Ireland and the Royal Irish Academy and find out how Dr Ventresque and his team are using software to reconnect young people in areas of conflict with high-quality education in their own languages.
