Fidelity's New Software Engineering Recruits
On Sept 29th Sarah Beecham and John Noll joined Bernard Murphy of Kemmy Business School to talk to Fidelity’s new software engineering recruits. 16 keen Fidelity ‘Leap Associates’ were given a tour of the Kemmy Business School Trading Floor in a lecture given by Bernard. Sarah gave a presentation on the risks and problems associated with developing software in a globally distributed environment, and Kevin Barron – who manages the Leap Associates for Fidelity, noted that it is essential for the new recruits to be aware of some of the problems they may have in communicating with their distributed team members. John gave an entertaining talk on Software Development governance, a new area of research, and particularly relevant to the financial services sector. It is an example of a successful collaboration between Lero and Kemmy Business School, and also of a potential partnership between Lero and Fidelity, as we have recently put in a proposal for ITEA2 funding, where if successful, Lero will be working very closely with Fidelity over the coming years.
