Are there scholarships available for the course?
Yes and the closing date for scholarship applications was 28th of February 2010. There will be studentships for the 2010/11 intake.
What if I don't obtain a scholarship?
If you are admitted to the course but do not receive a scholarship you will have to fund youself or seek an alternative funding source.
How do I apply for the course?
Please fill out an application form on http://www.lgsse.ie/applicationform.html. You can download it in PDF, Word or Open Document Format. Then email it to lgsse@lero.ie once it has been completed along with transcripts, english language certificate (TOEFL or IELTS if applicable) and research proposal (if any).
When will I find out the result of my application?
Student will know by June at the latest of the outcome of their application.
What is the closing date for the program?
The closing date for the 2010/11 intake is the end of February 2010.
What are the english language requirements?
The TOEFL score required is a minimum of 550 and IELTS is 6.5. If you have a score close to this we can review your application and there is a possibility you can be accepted on the course if you attend classes in the language centre. Also if we request it you will need to provide a letter from your University informing us that you have the required english language skills.

What is the value of the scholarships?
The scholarship will include stipend, fees and also some travel/equipment to a value of €23,000 per annum. T
Can I apply for the program by sending a CV and details of my qualifications?
No, you must fill up the LGSSE application form on the website. Otherwise your application cannot be processed.
Do I have to discuss my application with a member of faculty/LGSSE researcher?
No, this is optional and not a requirement. There is no requirement to do this before sending in your application. However it may be in your interests to do so.
