Abstract
Software product line engineering aims at reducing cost and time-to-market and increasing the quality of software development through extensive reuse. Despite many advances researchers and practitioners are still facing many challenges to integrate the domain and variability modeling processes with product derivation processes. We present the DOPLER (Decision-Oriented Product Line Engineering for effective Reuse) tool suite providing integrated support for both engineers and "non-technicians" in the SPLE lifecycle. The tool suite is flexible and extensible to support domain-specific needs. It provides product derivation support for the diverse stakeholders involved in derivation and also includes capabilities to manage application-specific requirements. The research is conducted in cooperation with Siemens VAI, the world's leading engineering and plant-building company for the iron, steel, and aluminum industries. The presentation covers decision-oriented variability modeling and demonstrates the utilization of variability models in product derivation. We will also show how DOPLER tools can be adapted to different organizational settings.
